How to travel the world (without winning the lotto)

Local author Liz Wright will be at the Library Bar from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Liz will be sharing traveling tips and strategies from her book, Bare Naked Nomad: The Ultimate Guide to Traveling the World. This complimentary workshop will include discussions on creative ways to travel on any budget, safety tips for solo travel as well as ideas for making money while you're on the road. Local Utah Beer Night at Thirsty Squirrel

From 4 to 7 p.m., meet Salt Lake City beer representatives at Thirsty Squirrel and sample local brews from Uinta, Squatters, Wasatch, Epic and Mountain West Cider. It's a great opportunity to learn about these local breweries and possibly win some swag. See you Thursday at Thirsty Squirrel!

Kid's Mini-downhill, hosted by Solitude's DEVO Team

Children ages 3 to 12 compete in this annual classic on the Solitude Race Course. On race day, all participants and parents will meet at the Moonbeam Lodge between 8:30 and 10 a.m. to finalize registration and receive a race bib. The race begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Last Chance Lodge – spectators are welcome! An Olympic-style awards ceremony will be held at Last Chance Lodge at 1:30 p.m. and participants will be awarded medals and prizes. Participants must be able to ski comfortably down the Moonbeam runs. Age categories for both boys and girls include: 3 - 4 years; 5 - 6 years; 7 - 9 years; and 10 - 12 years. Please pre-register starting Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Snowsports Academy or by calling 801.536.5730.

Thursday - 3/2/2017
Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) Fundraiser at Thirsty Squirrel

From 5 to 8 p.m., help support WBR, a local non-profit organization that provides response teams for avalanche rescues and educational courses. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase for fun prizes, with all proceeds benefiting WBR. Come meet Solitude's rescue dogs and sip on WBR's signature brew, the Nut Brown Seasonal Ale by Wasatch Brewery.

Bucklin Old Ranch Winery Dinner at St. Bernard's

On Wednesday, March 8, St. Bernard's will be hosting a wine dinner with Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Zinfandel.Hors d'oeuvres will be offered in The Library Bar from 5 to 6 p.m. The five course wine dinner will begin at 6 p.m., featuring four entrées and dessert. Reservations are required and the cost is $90 per person for dinner with wine pairing and $45 for dinner only; tax and gratuity are not included. This is a private event and St. Bernard's will not be open to the public with their regular offering this evening.

Nordic Center's Annual Spring Fling

Solitude’s Nordic Center presents a day of Nordic ski racing, live music and food. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m. Dress in a funny outfit for a chance to win great prizes! Other contests and a schedule of events will be released in February. If you’d like to volunteer, need more information, or would like to pre-register for a discount, please call the Nordic Center at 801.536.5774.

Avalanche Dog Demonstration

Solitude’s Avalanche Rescue dogs provide an amazing service to our guests and the surrounding community with their life saving efforts. These specialized and highly trained dogs are used for search and rescue efforts throughout the Wasatch Front. Watch and learn "mock" avalanche drills will be conducted, where Solitude's Avalanche Rescue dogs and Ski Patrol seek out people buried in the snow. Apex Express chairlift, 4:45 p.m.

Solitude is hosting a Rossignol Demo Day. Here’s your chance to experience the latest in ski and snowboard technology! Visit the Last Chance Lodge to participate.

Solitude's 27th Annual Chocolate Lovers' Tour

Come celebrate chocolate with fellow chocolate lovers! Begin your day at 9 a.m. by grabbing a complimentary “Chocolate Lover’s Passport” from Club Solitude. Follow the map on your passport to find different stations on and off the mountain, where complimentary goodies are offered throughout the morning. Receive a stamp from each station and you will be entered to win great prizes! The completed passports are due by noon and the prize drawing is at 1 p.m.
