Welcome To Solitude Mountain Resort

People crave solitude—equally today as they did more than 100 years ago. In the early 1900s, tenacious silver miners gave the name Solitude to the geographic area now encompassed by Solitude Mountain Resort. The mountain’s layout is a tantalizing array of green, blue and black runs, so black you’ll feel like you are in the backcountry.

Solitude Mountain Resort is pure, authentic and untarnished Utah territory. Located in Big Cottonwood Canyon, just 34 miles (54 km) from the Salt Lake City International Airport, the resort offers seven chairlifts, 77 named runs, three bowls, some of the most impressive off-piste terrain in the country and 500 annual inches of snow spread over 1,200 acres for skiing and snowboarding. One of Solitude’s best kept secrets is the Nordic Center, with nearly 20 kilometers of trails set for both classic and skating styles of Nordic skiing as well as 10 kilometers of well-marked snowshoe trails. And that’s just its winter offering. In the summer months, the resort’s breathtaking mountain vistas are the backdrop for nearly 20 miles (32 km) of tree-lined mountain biking and hiking trails, scenic chairlift rides, disc golf and more.

Solitude Mountain Resort was purchased by internationally acclaimed Deer Valley Resort in 2015. Consistently ranked #1 in service, grooming and on-mountain food by the readers of SKI Magazine, Deer Valley® brings extensive knowledge and experience to the management of Solitude. Deer Valley recently invested more than $8.5 million in improvements at the resort, including replacing and realigning the Summit chairlift with a high-speed detachable quad chairlift, creating a new ski run from the top of Apex Express chairlift to the base of the new Summit Express chairlift, renovating the Moonbeam Lodge guest facilities, rebuilding the on-mountain Roundhouse restaurant, upgrading the interior of Last Chance Lodge, improving snowmaking capabilities, increasing guest services presence and purchasing new staff uniforms.

The goal to #FindSolitude permeates every facet of the resort—from the rush of a downhill descent or a snowshoe escape to rejuvenating spa pampering or a gourmet feast. Delectable and scenic dining options on-mountain and in Solitude Village include Honeycomb Grill, St. Bernard’s, Last Chance Southwest Grill, Stone Haus Pizzeria and Creamery, Moonbeam Lodge and Roundhouse. Pure Solitude can scarcely be achieved without hands-on pampering from Solitude Mountain Spa, which offers the finest in spa services. Located in The Inn at Solitude, the spa features therapeutic body treatments, signature facials and deep tissue massage, with several spa packages available.
